Alexandra van den Heuvel

After earning her degree in Dutch Law at Leiden University and an additional Master’s degree in European Law from King’s College London, Alexandra began her career as an attorney specializing in corporate law in 2001. After several years, she made the transition to the private sector to gain experience on the other side of the table as an in-house counsel and to serve as a true sparring partner for entrepreneurs and executive boards. In addition to corporate law and general contract law, she focused on various financing structures for companies.

Since September 1, 2025, Alexandra has returned to practice and advises national and international companies, shareholders, and management teams on mergers and acquisitions, establishing and modifying corporate structures, financing structures, commercial contracts (including shareholders’ agreements), shareholder disputes, lease agreements, (director) liability, and debt collection.

Alexandra is adept at bridging the gap between legal considerations and her clients’ commercial interests. She prefers to be involved as early as possible so that she can anticipate the strategy best suited for her client in a timely manner. Alexandra prefers to achieve results through negotiation, but when necessary, she will represent her clients’ interests in litigation. Her approach is always guided by finding the best solution to the problem and is limited to cases that are feasible.

MfN-Registered Mediator (in training)

Given her experience in negotiations between and advising various entrepreneurs and executive boards, Alexandra sees significant added value for mediators in business disputes. That is why she has begun training to become an MfN-registered mediator.

Drawing on her many years of experience, Alexandra has observed that in the majority of cases, a solution chosen by the parties themselves leads to a better outcome for both sides. A mediator can guide the parties toward reaching an acceptable compromise, despite the often tense relationships between them. With a focus on mutual understanding, compassion, and calm, Alexandra hopes to contribute to this form of business conflict resolution in the future.
